(When Nobody Else Is Doing It For You!)
Valentine’s Day can be a lot of fun if you’re in a relationship. The candy, the cute dates, the flowers! However, if you’re single or going through a breakup it can be just another reminder that you haven’t met the right person for you. Now, there’s nothing wrong with being single! You’re a complete, amazing person with or without a partner! We understand though that it can leave a bad taste in your mouth, especially if you do want to be in a relationship.
We’ve made a list of a few things you can do on Valentine’s Day that doesn’t include crying over 90s romance movies and digging into a tub of ice cream, although if that makes you feel better then go for it! Just make sure you put aside a couple of cold tea bags for those puffy eyes the next morning!
Go out with a girlfriend or two!
This is a great time for you to set up a friend date. Maybe you could even spend time with that friend you keep running into at the grocery store that you always say you’re going to have coffee with but never remember to after you’ve grabbed your avocados. Spending time with people you enjoy can take your mind off of the frustration of being single and in case you need a bonus silver lining, a lot of bars offer themed drinks that are delicious and will probably look great on Instagram!
Spend some time working on you!
When you do something for yourself like hitting a new personal record at the gym or finish a project like that scarf you started knitting half a year ago, your brain gets a boost of feel good chemicals. If you’re feeling a little low, do something that you love that’s going to help you reach your goals. Not only are you doing something amazing for yourself but working on a hobby can be a welcome distraction from the 15 engagement ring selfies on social media.
Pamper yourself!
Taking a warm bath or doing your nails (our CBD Foot Soak is amazing!) can make you feel great but also lets you spend some time with yourself, connecting with you. It’s easy to get wrapped up in all of the noise of the world around you and forget that it’s fine and even exciting to be by yourself. With nobody to judge you for spending half an hour in the morning getting ready for work or to make you feel guilty for buying that expensive new bag, you’re free to spend your time on things that bring you joy. It’s good to be a little selfish once in a while!
While it may be difficult to be single on Valentine’s Day, it’s important to remember that a relationship is two complete people coming together to share their lives. Just because you haven’t found that other person yet doesn’t mean that you aren’t beautiful, smart and wonderful. It just means that you have a little longer to enjoy all of the luxurious bed space on Saturday mornings!
